Australia (April 2011)

It was so intense that I didn’t write
Australia gave me such exciting adventures that I didn’t have time to write. This may sound like an excuse, but it is completely true...
It all started in Sydney, in the free walking tour. The two-hour tour were enough to become friends, so I spend the following days with Lauriane, Yvonne and Kathrin.

Sydney downtown

The Amazing architecture of the Opera House, the crowded Manly beach, the enormous Blue Mountains, were better spots with the three of them.

Everything seemed strange to me.
Do you want to know why? Let’s see these pictures!

Twice a day there’s a free walking tour with an amazing guide. Would you imagine that in any other first world country? I found it was a really nice idea!

The botanical garden (in downtown) is full of noisy flying foxes. In a way, these foxes are also nice, or let’s say...interesting.

One of the most visited places in the world, The Opera House, has never been seen by its author Jorn Utzon due to political and economical reasons.

I had to stop while walking in a park in Manly beach area. Look how many spiders there were!

If you see this, you’d better run. We kept walking, and when the rain came, it seemed the world was going to end!

Again, the biggest is in Australia. Look how small I am next to this wonderful tree.

Punky birds in Byron Bay

There is something else that a I didn’t picture, but it is as surprising as the rest of things.
Women and men in Australia are always running! They always find time to go to a calm park and run. It can be at 6am, noon or 10pm. There’s always someone passing you running. :)

Nice signals! Do you understand what they mean? So we'd better don't go into the water!

Here it is! We knew the crocodile was somewhere!

Diving in the Coral Reef
I was expecting to have one of the best and unforgettable experiences during my days in Cairns and Coral Reef. Everyone says this part of the world is the best to dive. Visibility is usually 25m, water is  28ºC, calm and clear due to the lack of wind...
My experience wasn’t like that. Visibility under the water was 2meters (we had difficulty to see our buddy), the current under the water was so strong that water kept pushing us to the coral (hearting us sometimes), the water was choppy every single day during our 3 day open water course.
However, I only have good words for the instructors of ProDive and the group of divers that shared with me this adventure. ProDive was very professional and had the situation under control, even when the waves where meters high.
We spent 5 days in a course, almost 24h together, that made me have special memories for the friends I met in Cairns.

Lucky. We could see the big turtle!

There's another world down there

Team Xtream: Susan, Rachel, Torger, Tim, Martina, Maren, Julie, Lina, Ben, Sphie, Lisa

Exhausted after 3 days diving 4 times a day

Have you seen Nemo?

The following day...

This is how the coral reef usually looks like...

Byron Bay. Surf paradise!
Byron Bay is the most easterly point in Australia. I agree “It is beautiful, and it has an amazing vibe” as Brandon describe once.

Eyal and Barbara in Tallow Beach. There's no one else there! Isn't it amazing?
